Severe Storms Leave Over 34,000 Without Power in Baltimore Area
A severe storm swept through Central Maryland on Tuesday, leaving more than 34,000 Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE) customers without power as of 8 p.m. The storm caused significant damage, including downed wires, broken poles, and fallen trees, particularly affecting Baltimore City and the counties of Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Howard, and Prince George's. By 8 a.m. Wednesday, power had been restored to 36,384 customers, though over 12,000 remained without electricity. BGE estimates that 80% of affected customers will have power restored by 11 p.m. Wednesday, with full restoration expected by Thursday night. Crews are actively assessing the damage and working to restore service.
