Washington D.C. Experiences Near-Record Heat with Fire Risks
Washington D.C. is currently experiencing a spell of near-record heat, with temperatures reaching 89°F (32°C) at Reagan National Airport, 92°F (33°C) at Washington Dulles International Airport, and 91°F (33°C) at Baltimore-Washington International Marshall Airport. This marks the second consecutive day of such high temperatures, with the region experiencing its 11th day at or above 80°F (27°C) this year, tying a record set in 1945. A weak front is expected to bring slightly cooler temperatures on Friday, but the warmth will persist through Saturday. The area is also facing severe drought conditions, with precipitation deficits recorded at major airports, contributing to an elevated fire risk.
