North Korean Hacking Group Develops AI Tools for Enhanced Cyberattacks
A report from a South Korean cybersecurity firm, Genians, reveals that a North Korean hacking group known as Kimsuky is developing AI tools to enhance their cyberattack capabilities. These tools include large language models and software that could automate cyberattacks, analyze stolen data, and create more convincing phishing campaigns. The group has reportedly set up infrastructure to run AI models locally, allowing them to process sensitive documents without external exposure. The U.S. Treasury has previously sanctioned Kimsuky as a North Korean government-controlled cyber-espionage group, citing its role in gathering intelligence for Pyongyang's strategic objectives.
