Versailles Completes Restoration of King's Bedroom to 1789 Condition
The Palace of Versailles has completed the restoration of a bedroom in the King's Private Apartments, returning it to its appearance on October 6, 1789. This project, which began in the 1980s, involved meticulous work by artisans to replicate the original design using traditional techniques. The restoration included recreating the bed from fine-grained linden wood and applying water-gilding, as well as reproducing the original tapestries and fabrics. The restored room is now open for public tours, offering visitors a glimpse into the historical and cultural significance of the space.
