Study Finds MIND Diet May Benefit Those at Risk for Alzheimer's
A new study published in the Journal of Alzheimer's Disease has found that the MIND diet, which combines elements of the Mediterranean and DASH diets, may be particularly beneficial for individuals with higher levels of Alzheimer's-related biomarkers. The research, led by Dr. Klodian Dhana from Rush University Medical Center, involved 604 adults aged 65 to 84 and showed that those with elevated levels of amyloid-beta and phosphorylated tau proteins responded better to the MIND diet compared to a control group. The study suggests that the diet's emphasis on plant-based foods, healthy fats, and whole grains may support brain health by protecting against oxidative stress and maintaining healthy blood flow.
