Dangerous Heat Dome Shatters Records Across the U.S.
A heat dome has settled over the United States, bringing extreme heat warnings and record-breaking temperatures across multiple regions. According to the Associated Press, areas from the Southwest to the Midwest and Great Plains are experiencing oppressive heat, with temperatures reaching as high as 111°F (43.9°C) in Las Vegas and 104°F (40°C) in Dallas. The Denver area is also expected to see temperatures up to 15°F above average. Vulnerable populations, including outdoor workers, are at heightened risk, particularly in Nebraska, where temperatures recently hit 108°F (42.2°C). Phoenix, Arizona, has also set a record for its overnight low temperatures. While the Pacific Northwest and Northeast may see some relief, the heat is expected to persist in many areas through mid-August.
