Portland's Historic Boyd Block Rebuild Wins Preservation Honors
The Boyd Block in Portland, Maine, has been recognized with a 2026 Honor Award for its $22 million restoration and rebuild. The project, led by East Brown Cow, involved meticulous restoration of the historic building, originally constructed in 1867. The restoration was funded in part by federal and state historic rehabilitation tax credits. The Boyd Block now features boutique hotel apartments and retail spaces, including Bangor Savings Bank and Rough & Tumble. The project highlights the importance of historic preservation in urban development.
