Hiker Rescued After 50-Foot Fall on Mount Si, Washington
A hiker was rescued after falling 50 feet from Haystack Rock at the summit of Mount Si in Washington on Saturday. The King County Sheriff Air Support team conducted the operation, which was complicated by cloud cover, wind, and snow at the 4,100-foot elevation. The hiker, who may have suffered a head injury, was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle once weather conditions allowed. Mount Si, located 35 miles east of Seattle, is a popular hiking destination with a trail that ascends over 3,000 feet in just a few miles. The Washington Trails Association describes the trail as suitable for both novice and experienced hikers, with over 100,000 visitors annually.
