Thierry Antinori's Role in Qatar Airways Amid CEO Turnover
Qatar Airways has experienced significant leadership changes over the past few years, with three different CEOs since 2023. The airline's long-time CEO, Akbar Al Baker, left in 2023 after 27 years, succeeded by Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, who served for two years before being replaced by Hamad Ali Al-Khater in late 2025. Despite these changes, Thierry Antinori, the Chief Commercial Officer, has remained a constant figure in the airline's leadership. Antinori, who joined Qatar Airways in 2019, has been credited with maintaining the airline's success during this period of executive instability. His background includes significant roles at Air France-KLM, Lufthansa Group, and Emirates, where he served as Chief Commercial Officer before moving to Qatar Airways.
