South African Mining Sector Faces Challenges Amid Global Uncertainty, MEMSA Event Highlights
At a recent event hosted by the Mining Equipment Manufacturers of South Africa (MEMSA), Minerals Council South Africa CEO Mzila Mthenjane emphasized that growth and investment in the mining sector are not guaranteed. The event, held at Montecasino, focused on the implications of geopolitical disruptions, particularly the Middle East conflict, on South Africa's original-equipment manufacturers (OEMs). Discussions highlighted the need for South Africa to address infrastructure issues, such as electricity and logistics, to sustain long-term growth. The event also underscored the importance of collaboration among South African OEMs to tackle global and local opportunities, with a focus on policy-influencing actions to enhance self-reliance.
