Cyberattack on North Carolina Ports Contained as Recovery Efforts Continue
North Carolina Ports is in the process of recovering from a cybersecurity incident that affected its operations. The breach, which impacted the ports in Wilmington, Morehead City, and Charlotte, has been contained, and the facilities are now following a normal operating schedule, albeit with manual processing. An outside forensics team is collaborating with the IT department to assess and restore affected systems. The incident required the ports to enact a contingency plan and involved coordination with state agencies and the U.S. Coast Guard. No hacking group has claimed responsibility for the attack, and it remains unclear if it was a ransomware incident.
