Tropical Storm Dolly Downgraded, Heavy Rain Expected in Caribbean
The National Hurricane Center (NHC) announced that Tropical Storm Dolly has been downgraded to an open tropical wave as of Friday, August 28, 2026, at 11:00 AM AST. Despite losing its tropical storm status, the remnants of Dolly are expected to bring significant rainfall to parts of the Caribbean over the weekend. The system is currently located approximately 1,000 miles east of the Leeward Islands, moving westward at 25 mph. Maximum sustained winds are reported at 40 mph, with a minimum central pressure of 1,008 millibars. The NHC has ceased issuing updates on Dolly, but its remnants are forecast to approach the Leeward Islands by Saturday night and Sunday.
