American Rheinmetall Delivers First Lynx XM30 Prototype to U.S. Army for Bradley Replacement Program
American Rheinmetall, a U.S. subsidiary of the German defense contractor Rheinmetall, has delivered the first of eight Lynx XM30 infantry fighting vehicle prototypes to the U.S. Army. This delivery is part of the XM30 program, which aims to replace the M2 Bradley infantry fighting vehicle, first introduced in the early 1980s. The U.S. Army plans to replace approximately 4,000 Bradleys starting in 2029. The XM30 is designed to feature a 50mm automatic cannon as its primary weapon, with secondary armaments including guided missiles and loitering munitions. The vehicle's crew will consist of a driver and a commander, with a capacity to carry six dismounted infantry soldiers.
