Robert Meyer Passes Away at 72, Remembered for Contributions to Education and Music
Robert 'Buzz' Meyer, a resident of Western Springs, Illinois, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2026, at the age of 72. Meyer had been battling corticobasal degeneration, a rare form of Parkinson's disease. He is remembered as a loving father, devoted husband, talented musician, and dedicated professor. Born on December 4, 1953, in Iowa City, Meyer pursued higher education at the University of Illinois and Florida State University, earning bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees. His career was dedicated to teaching English, film and literature, and linguistics at institutions such as Barat College and DePaul University. Meyer is survived by his wife, Barbara, his children, and extended family. A Celebration of Life service is scheduled for May 3 at the Western Springs Village Club.
