Despite filing her renewal application in March, she has not yet received a decision, and her current work permit is set to expire in September. Under her union contract, if her permit lapses, she will be placed on extended status without pay, risking the loss of her paycheck and health insurance. This insurance is crucial for her 8-year-old daughter, who requires medication and therapy for seizures.
