Elizabeth Holmes to Be Transferred to Halfway House in 2027
Elizabeth Holmes, the founder of the now-defunct health care startup Theranos, is scheduled to be moved from her current minimum-security prison to a halfway house in August 2027. This information was revealed in a federally mandated notice sent to victims by the U.S. Department of Justice’s Victim Notification System. Holmes, who was convicted in 2022 on three counts of wire fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, is currently serving an 11-year prison sentence, which was later reduced by two years, setting her release date for February 22, 2030. Her new residence will be the Austin Transitional Center in Del Valle, Texas. Halfway houses, also known as residential reentry centers, provide services such as career counseling in a supervised environment, allowing residents to work and receive visitors.
