Oscar-winning Disney Animator Glen Keane Thanks Rescue Crew After Arizona Hiking Incident
Glen Keane, an Oscar-winning Disney animator known for his work on films such as 'The Little Mermaid' and 'Tangled', recently expressed his gratitude to the first responders who rescued him during a hiking incident in Arizona. On July 29, Keane was hiking Mummy Mountain with his grandchildren when he found himself in need of assistance. A helicopter was dispatched to aid in his rescue. Phoenix Fire Captain Patrick O'Neill noted the challenging conditions, including the helicopter's proximity and rotor wash, but the crew successfully brought Keane to safety. Keane, who has animated dramatic scenes in beloved Disney films, described the rescue as a real-life fairytale moment. He later met with the rescue team to personally thank them and presented a drawn tribute as a token of appreciation.
