Southern California Braces for Hottest Week of the Year
Southern California is set to experience its hottest week of the year, with temperatures in downtown Los Angeles forecasted to reach 96–98°F (35.6–36.7°C) through Friday, August 28, 2026. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Heat Advisory for downtown Los Angeles until 10 a.m. Tuesday, followed by an Extreme Heat Watch from 10 a.m. Tuesday through 8 p.m. Friday. Coastal areas are expected to see highs between 80–90°F (26.7–32.2°C), while valleys could experience temperatures ranging from 100–110°F (37.8–43.3°C). Death Valley is forecasted to reach highs of 119–120°F (48.3–48.9°C) during the same period.
