St. Marys High School Students Collaborate on U.S. Flag Coin for 250th Anniversary
St. Marys Area High School's Dutch Manufacturing students, in collaboration with the Community Education Center of Elk and Cameron Counties and artist John Schlimm, have partnered with the Elk County Commissioners to create 30,000 powdered metal 'U.S. Flag Coins'. This initiative is part of the celebrations for the 250th birthday of the United States. The coins, which are being distributed at no charge throughout Elk County, are a product of a collective effort that includes local businesses and educational institutions. The project is a continuation of the students' involvement in community service and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) education, following previous projects like 'The Smile Coin' and 'The 988 Coin'.
