Raymond Petersen, Korean War Veteran and Civic Leader, Passes Away at 97
Raymond L. Petersen, a Korean War veteran and lifelong resident of Moorcroft, Wyoming, passed away at the age of 97. Petersen was known for his dedication to family, community, and country. Born in 1929, he grew up in Moorcroft and served in the United States Army from 1949 to 1951, earning several medals for his service in Korea. After his military service, he attended the Barnes School of Commerce in Denver, where he met his wife, Mary Lou Friehauf. The couple celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary in 2026. Petersen was a prominent figure in his community, contributing to local civic life and maintaining strong family ties. He is survived by his wife, three children, nine grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.
