Walmart Recalls 50,000 Adjustable Dumbbells Due to Injury Risks
Walmart has issued a recall for approximately 50,000 adjustable dumbbells following reports of injuries caused by dislodged weight plates. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced that the FitRx SmartBell Quick-Select 5-52.5 lb. Adjustable Dumbbells, manufactured by Tzumi Electronics, pose an 'impact hazard' as the weight plates can detach from the handle during use. The recall comes after the CPSC received over 115 reports of the plates coming loose, resulting in at least six injuries, including broken toes and bruises. The affected dumbbells, sold at Walmart from January to November 2024, are black with red accents and include a molded plastic storage tray. Consumers are advised to stop using the dumbbells immediately and contact Tzumi Electronics for a free replacement.
