Trader Joe's Faces $7.4 Million Settlement Over Receipt Information Violation
Trader Joe's customers have until June 9 to claim a cash payout from a $7.4 million class-action settlement. The lawsuit accused the grocery chain of violating the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA) by printing excessive credit and debit card information on receipts in 2019. The settlement, which Trader Joe's agreed to without admitting wrongdoing, aims to resolve claims that the company increased the risk of identity theft by displaying both the first six and last four digits of card numbers on receipts. Eligible customers who made purchases between March 5, 2019, and July 19, 2019, and received such receipts can file claims online, by mail, or by phone. The final payout per person will depend on the number of valid claims filed, with estimates ranging from $56 to $113.
