Petrobras Exceeds Oil Production Targets, Aims for Continued Growth
Petrobras, Brazil's state-controlled oil company, is on track to surpass its 2026 oil production targets, according to CEO Magda Chambriard. During a recent earnings call, Chambriard reported that the company's oil output in the second quarter exceeded its target by 200,000 barrels per day. Petrobras has been producing an average of 2.6 million barrels per day this year, surpassing its forecast of 2.5 million barrels per day. The company attributes this success to operational improvements and efforts to slow production declines at older oil fields. Despite these achievements, Petrobras shares experienced a 3% decline, coinciding with a 1.7% drop in Brazil's benchmark stock index, the Bovespa.
