Ford Recalls 1.4 Million F-150 Trucks in U.S. Over Gearshift Issue
Ford Motor Company is recalling nearly 1.4 million F-150 pickup trucks in the United States due to a gearshift issue that could lead to a loss of vehicle control and increase the risk of crashes. The recall affects F-150 models with six-speed automatic transmissions manufactured between March 12, 2014, and August 18, 2017. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reported that the issue involves an intermittent signal from the transmission range sensor to the powertrain control module, potentially causing an unintended downshift into second gear. This can result in a sudden reduction in wheel speed, potentially causing the rear tires to slide. Ford has acknowledged two injuries and one accident possibly related to this issue.
