Severe Weather and Flooding Impact Chicago Area
The Chicago area is experiencing multiple rounds of severe weather, including heavy rain, strong winds, and lightning. A Flood Watch and Severe Thunderstorm Watch are in effect for much of Northeast Illinois and Northwest Indiana. The first round of storms on Sunday afternoon brought 1 to 2 inches of rain, causing localized flooding and power outages. A second round of storms began Sunday evening, with torrential downpours expected to persist overnight into Monday morning. Flash Flood Watches are in place until 7 a.m. Monday, with some areas potentially receiving 4 to 7 inches of rain if the worst-case scenario occurs. Severe weather is expected to continue into Monday and Tuesday.
