International Telecommunication Union and Uganda Collaborate on Digital Skills Development
The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is collaborating with the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance in Uganda on a 'Technical Assistance and Training to Uganda on National ICT Development Strategy' project, running from 2021 to 2024. This initiative aims to address significant gaps in digital skills acquisition within Uganda's priority sectors. The project, supported by the Global Development and South-South Cooperation Fund (GDSSCF) and ITU's ICT Development Fund (ICT-DF), involves a comprehensive needs assessment. This assessment seeks to identify current and emerging digital skills supply and demand, develop a methodology for evaluation based on existing tools like the ITU Digital Skills Assessment Guidebook, and propose a capacity-building action plan for key sectors. The report detailing this assessment was developed with support from ITU Headquarters and the ITU Regional Office for Africa.
