Early Heat Wave Hits Northeast with Record Temperatures
An early heat wave is sweeping across the Northeast and Plains, bringing unseasonably high temperatures. According to NBC News, the National Weather Service forecasts temperatures reaching into the 90s across the mid-Atlantic region by Wednesday and Thursday. More than 100 record-high temperatures could be broken this week, including some all-time April records. Cities like St. Louis, Memphis, and Richmond are expected to see highs in the upper 80s to low 90s. The Northeast, including Philadelphia, New York City, and Washington, D.C., will also experience summer-like heat, with temperatures reaching the mid to upper 80s. This heat wave is attributed to a ridge of high pressure trapping hot air over the eastern half of the country.
