Study Links Human-Driven Climate Crisis to Increased Wildfires in Canada, Affecting U.S. Air Quality
A recent analysis has found that the human-driven climate crisis has significantly increased the likelihood of wildfires in Canada, which have been causing toxic smoke to spread across the country and into the United States. The study, conducted by World Weather Attribution, highlights that heightened global temperatures due to fossil fuel combustion have amplified fire-prone weather conditions in Ontario and the Northwest Territories. These regions have been severely affected by fires this summer, leading to evacuations and widespread smoke affecting multiple North American cities. The study indicates that such extreme fire conditions, which were once rare, are now expected to occur more frequently due to climate change.
