Dallas Driver Arrested for Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash on Buckner Boulevard
Derrick Mason, 30, has been arrested and charged with collision involving death following a fatal hit-and-run crash on Buckner Boulevard in Dallas. The incident occurred around 11 p.m. on Thursday near Rothington Road, resulting in the death of Javari Stripling, who was attempting to cross the boulevard. According to an arrest warrant affidavit, Stripling was struck by a vehicle that did not stop. Witnesses at the scene provided investigators with a description of the suspect's vehicle, a Ford Crown Victoria. Utilizing nearby camera footage, police were able to identify the car and obtain its license plate number. This information led them to locate the vehicle and subsequently arrest Mason. Mason reportedly told police that he tried to avoid hitting Stripling but was unable to stop in time, and then panicked and fled the scene. He is now facing a second-degree felony charge.
