Chinese Navy Conducts Passage Near Taiwan Following Japanese Naval Transit
The Chinese Navy has completed a transit through the Yonaguni-Iriomote Waterway, a strategic passage near the Taiwan Strait, following a Japanese destroyer's passage through the Taiwan Strait. This move by China, involving a group of vessels including a destroyer, was part of a training exercise in the Western Pacific. The Eastern Theater Command of the People's Liberation Army, responsible for the East China Sea and Taiwan Strait, reported the completion of this exercise. China's foreign ministry expressed anger over Japan's recent naval activities, labeling them as provocations that threaten China's security and sovereignty. The tensions between China and Japan have been escalating, particularly since Japan's Prime Minister suggested a potential military response to a hypothetical Chinese invasion of Taiwan.
