Ursula K. Le Guin's Portland Home Gains National Historic Status
The Portland home of renowned author Ursula K. Le Guin has been officially listed in the National Register of Historic Places. This Queen Anne-style residence, located in Willamette Heights, served as Le Guin's creative workspace for nearly six decades. During her time there, she penned many of her most celebrated works, including 'A Wizard of Earthsea,' 'The Left Hand of Darkness,' and 'The Dispossessed.' Following her death in 2018, Le Guin's family donated the property to Portland-based Literary Arts to establish the Ursula K. Le Guin Writers Residency. This recognition highlights the cultural and literary significance of Le Guin's contributions to speculative fiction.
