Albany Woman Charged in Alleged Plot to Attack New York State Capitol
An Albany woman, Jessica Bowie, 35, also known as Aisha Saif, has been charged with attempting to provide material support or resources to designated foreign terrorist organizations. Investigators allege that Bowie plotted to detonate a bomb and kill elected officials at the New York State Capitol. According to First Assistant U.S. Attorney John A. Sarcone III, Bowie was radicalized online and disseminated messages of hate and violence against American citizens. The allegations are described as "deeply disturbing" and an "attack on democracy itself." State political leaders, including Senate Republican leader Rob Ortt, Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie, and Governor Kathy Hochul, have reacted to the news, expressing gratitude to law enforcement for preventing the incident and emphasizing the need for inter-agency cooperation.
