Mayo Clinic Physician Launches Pet Care Nonprofit for Long-Term Patients
Dr. Nora Bennani, a physician at Mayo Clinic, has founded Sunny's Helping Paws, a nonprofit organization aimed at providing pet care for patients undergoing long-term medical treatment. The initiative was inspired by a patient who faced the difficult choice between receiving necessary medical care and caring for their pets. Sunny's Helping Paws offers a foster system for pets, ensuring they are cared for while their owners are hospitalized. The organization has grown to cover 11 counties in Southeast Minnesota, supported by a community of volunteers and partnerships with local shelters.
