PennDOT Employees Recognized for Leading Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Funding
Governor Josh Shapiro recently honored a team from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) for their exceptional work in deploying the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) funding program. The team, part of PennDOT's Bureau of Strategic Implementation, has successfully secured the highest amount of NEVI funding in the nation, ensuring Pennsylvania receives the full $171.5 million allocated for electric vehicle infrastructure under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. This funding has facilitated the construction of 44 charging stations across the state, with 45 more in development. These stations have been utilized nearly 150,000 times, contributing to a reduction of approximately 3,700 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions. The recognition came as part of the Governor’s Awards for Excellence, which acknowledged 83 employees from 17 state agencies for their outstanding contributions in 2025.
