Rep. Maxine Waters Requests Information on AI Impact on Financial Services
Rep. Maxine Waters, the ranking member of the House Financial Services Committee, has issued a request for information (RFI) concerning the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in financial services. This initiative follows her previous collaboration with former committee Chair Patrick McHenry to establish a bipartisan AI working group. The current RFI comprises 54 questions focusing on generative and advanced AI systems, seeking feedback on the application of existing federal laws and regulations, and potential reforms. Key areas of interest include model fairness, data privacy, liability, and the impact on capital markets and national security. The RFI does not address the property/casualty insurance industry but is more aligned with recent developments in advanced generative AI models.
