Houston Fire Department Battles Two-Alarm Fire at Historic Harper Education Center
The Houston Fire Department responded to a two-alarm fire at the historic Harper Education Center, formerly known as Harper School. The fire, which broke out in the early hours of Sunday, prompted firefighters to switch from an aggressive interior attack to defensive operations due to changing conditions. One firefighter sustained a non-life-threatening ankle injury. The cause of the fire is under investigation, with initial suspicions pointing to an electrical issue. Mayor John Whitmire emphasized the importance of preserving the building's historical elements.
