Illinois Arborist Association Hosts Tree Climbing Championship in Naperville
The Illinois Arborist Association is hosting the 2026 Illinois Tree Climbing Championship at the Greene Valley Forest Preserve in Naperville. The event, scheduled for this weekend, will feature 30 participants competing in various tree climbing challenges. These challenges mimic the daily tasks of arborists, such as the work climb, aerial rescue, belayed speed climb, ascent, and throwline. The competition aims to identify the state's top climbers and promote safe work practices. The event also includes an Arbor Fair, offering spectators the chance to learn about tree care and enjoy family-friendly activities. The championship serves as a platform for arborists to showcase their skills and potentially open up new career opportunities.
