Canada Implements Visa Restrictions on Democratic Republic of the Congo Amid Ebola Outbreak
The Canadian government has announced new visa restrictions on the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) in response to an ongoing Ebola outbreak. Effective July 20, 2026, foreign nationals who have been in the DRC within the past 21 days are prohibited from entering Canada. This measure aims to prevent the spread of Ebola within Canada. The decision follows a previous travel ban on the DRC, Uganda, and Sudan due to Ebola concerns. The Canadian government emphasizes the need for effective border controls to manage travelers, including returning Canadian humanitarian workers. The United States and the Bahamas have also implemented similar restrictions.
