Houston Faces Rising Rain Chances and Potential Flooding This Week
Houston is set to experience increasing rain chances and high humidity levels throughout the week, according to the Houston Chronicle. Scattered showers and weak thunderstorms are possible by Sunday evening, with a 20% chance of measurable rainfall. On Monday and Tuesday, extremely high humidity will persist, pushing heat index values to the upper 90s or even 100°F (37°C). Overnight lows will remain mild, around 80°F (27°C). Rain chances will rise to 30% on Monday and 50% by Tuesday evening as a weak cold front approaches. The National Blend of Models predicts 1.5 to 4 inches of rain for Houston over the next seven days, with isolated higher amounts possible. The highest flood risk is expected between Thursday and Saturday, with heavier rainfall likely in areas north and west of Houston, such as San Antonio, Huntsville, and College Station.
