Heavy Rains and Ideal Planting Conditions Set Stage for 2026 Farm Progress Show in Boone, Iowa
The 2026 Farm Progress Show, scheduled for September 1-3 in Boone, Iowa, is shaping up to be a significant event for the agricultural community. Organizers have successfully planted 300 acres of demonstration corn under favorable conditions, with planting completed on April 21 and 22. The corn varieties selected have relative maturities of 78 to 87 days, aiming for harvest moisture levels of 30% or less by the event. Heavy rains in mid-April affected parts of Iowa, but the show grounds were spared, allowing timely planting. A new Agronomy Zone will debut this year, featuring 12 companies showcasing seed, nutrient, and crop protection innovations. Additionally, cover crops will be flown onto 80 acres this summer to enhance soil health and provide a unique demonstration area.
