Zurich Tops List for Most Expensive Taxi Rides and Everyday Items
A recent report from the Deutsche Bank Research Institute highlights Zurich, Switzerland, as the city with the most expensive taxi rides globally, with a five-kilometer trip costing $32. This is significantly higher than in other cities, such as Cairo, where the same distance costs much less. The report also notes that Zurich, along with Geneva, ranks among the most expensive cities for various everyday items, including coffee, jeans, and a can of Coke. The high costs are attributed to the strength of the Swiss franc and the high salaries of residents, who enjoy substantial disposable income after taxes and rent. The report compares prices across 69 cities worldwide, using data from the crowdsourced platform Numbeo and other sources.
