P.E.I. Cycling Race and Oyster Festival Parade Nearly Collide, Organizers Apologize
During the annual Tyne Valley Oyster Festival parade in Prince Edward Island, a near collision occurred with the P.E.I. Mussel Tear cycling race. The race, which spans 430 km, coincided with the parade, leading to some cyclists racing through barricades and nearly hitting spectators. Tyne Valley fire Chief Daniel Grigg expressed concern over the safety risks posed by the cyclists who ignored calls to give way. The Mussel Tear organizers have since apologized and are taking disciplinary action against the cyclists involved. Despite the incident, most cyclists walked their bikes and interacted positively with the crowd.
