Colin Allred Withdraws from Senate Race, Opts for Congressional Run in Dallas
Colin Allred, a former U.S. Representative, has decided to withdraw from the Texas Senate race and will instead run for Congress in the newly redrawn District 33 in Dallas County. This decision comes as U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett is expected to enter the Democratic Senate race, which also includes state Rep. James Talarico. Allred cited the potential for a prolonged and contentious primary as a reason for his decision, emphasizing the need to focus on serving the community effectively. His move sets up a primary challenge against U.S. Rep. Julie Johnson, who currently represents District 32. The redistricting has made District 32 more favorable to Republicans, prompting Allred to seek election in District 33, which aligns with his previous service area.
