Swedish and Polish Firms Invest in TNT Plants to Boost Europe's Ammunition Supply
Swedish company Swebal is constructing a new TNT factory in Sweden, the first since the Cold War, to enhance Europe's supply of explosives for ammunition. Concurrently, Poland's Nitro-Chem is expanding its production capacity to meet growing demand. These developments are part of a broader effort to address Europe's dependency on imported materials and to bolster its defense capabilities amid geopolitical tensions, particularly with Russia. The European Union's Act in Support of Ammunition Production aims to increase production capacity, but challenges remain due to reliance on non-European suppliers for raw materials.
