Finnair Adjusts Capacity Guidance and Leases Older A320 Jets Amid Uncertain Outlook
Finnair has revised its full-year capacity guidance, reducing its planned increase from 3% to 1% for 2026. Despite this adjustment, the airline has maintained its profit forecast, projecting an operating profit between €120-190 million. The decision comes after Finnair reported a significant increase in its second-quarter operating profit, which rose four-fold to €86.6 million. The airline's revenue for the quarter increased by 16.4% year-on-year, reaching €916.7 million. In response to its strategic needs, Finnair has signed letters of intent to lease six older Airbus A320ceo aircraft. This move aligns with its earlier plans to source up to 12 older A320s and A319s to support its medium-term network plans. The airline's chief executive, Turkka Kuusisto, highlighted the uncertainty in the market due to geopolitical developments and fuel price fluctuations, which could impact demand and profitability.
