Northern Lights Expands Fleet with MISC and K Line for CO2 Transport
Northern Lights, a joint venture between Equinor, Shell, and TotalEnergies, is advancing its fleet expansion to support Norway's Project Longship, a carbon capture and storage initiative. The company has completed a second charter agreement with MISC Group and K Line, adding four new vessels to its operations. These vessels will transport liquified CO2 from industrial sites to a terminal in western Norway, where it will be stored permanently. The expansion aims to increase the transport and storage capacity from 1.5 million tons to over 5 million tons per year by 2028. The first three vessels are managed by K Line, while the fourth, Northern Purpose, is operated by Bernhard Schulte.
