Tanzania Seeks to Expand Dangote Investments to Boost Industrial Growth
The Tanzanian government is actively pursuing expanded investments from Dangote Group, focusing on sectors such as fertilizer production, energy, and industrial infrastructure. This initiative follows discussions between President Samia Suluhu Hassan and Aliko Dangote, President and CEO of Dangote Industries Limited. Currently, Dangote operates Tanzania's largest cement manufacturing plant, valued at approximately $800 million. The Tanzanian delegation, led by Minister of State for Planning and Investment, Prof. Kitila A. Mkumbo, visited the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals in Lagos, Nigeria, to further these discussions. The government views Dangote's expertise in fertilizer production and refinery operations as crucial for supporting East Africa's economic growth and aims to enhance economic cooperation across Africa under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
