New Hampshire State Mandates Written Notice for Changes in Home Care Plans for Medically Complex Children
The New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) has mandated that Managed Care Organizations (MCOs) provide formal written notice for any changes to home care plans for medically complex children. This decision follows instances where families experienced reductions or eliminations of home care hours. The Katie Beckett Program, which allows children to receive medical care at home, is central to this mandate. The DHHS has met with MCOs and affected families to ensure care needs are met, requiring 30 business days' notice before any reductions.
