Eton College Welcomes Prince George, Upholding Historic Dress Code
Eton College, a prestigious all-boys boarding school in Berkshire, England, is set to welcome Prince George as a new pupil this fall. The school, founded by King Henry VI in 1440, has a significant historical connection with the British Royal Family. Prince George, who recently turned 13, will join the ranks of students at Eton, which is known for its strict dress code. This dress code has evolved over centuries, reflecting changes in fashion trends. Historically, students wore colorful attire, but by the 19th century, the dress code included blue coats and yellow waistcoats. Today, students wear a black tailcoat, waistcoat, pinstriped trousers, and a stiff white collar. This uniform was also worn by Prince William and Prince Harry during their time at Eton. Prince George's recent birthday portrait suggests he is ready to adapt to the school's sartorial traditions.
