Jericho High School Sets Record with 21 Valedictorians, Plans Unique Graduation Celebration
Jericho High School in Long Island has achieved a remarkable feat by having 21 students earn the title of valedictorian for the class of 2026. Each of these students maintained straight A+ grades throughout their high school years. Due to the large number of valedictorians, the school has decided to film a video for the graduation ceremony on June 28, as not all can deliver speeches. Co-Principal Brian Cummings explained that the school uses a letter grading system where a 97 or higher is considered an A+, allowing for multiple students to achieve this distinction. The students, who took challenging courses including Advanced Placement classes, will wear sashes denoting their valedictorian status during the ceremony. Jericho High School is ranked ninth among New York's best high schools and 108th nationally, according to U.S. News & World Report.
